Logline: A religious cult believes 6-year-old Melody is the devil and wants her dead. Will is talked into killing the girl, but he questions his mission. Could this sweet little girl really be the devil?
Synopsis: Melody Landers is the most adorable six-year-old girl. At least, that's what it seems. Will Evans, a young member of the Principles of the Father church, is told that she is in fact the Devil, and she must be killed before she grows too strong and too powerful.
This is a story about being brainwashed by a religious cult. It's about a man who is set up to do the worst possible thing a man can do: Killing an innocent child. Will doesn't succeed his mission. Instead he winds up not knowing what to believe. All he knows is that he's sent on a mission to KILL SWEET MELODY.
Extended Synopsis: Will Evans lives in a small and poorly furnished apartment in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is a member of the Principles of the Father church, which is run by Janet Bellman. The church pays his rent, clothes and food, and in return, he helps out at a drop-in center also run by Janet and her husband Aaron.
Six years ago, Janet was a nurse at a maternity ward and she helped delivering a girl with "the devil's birth mark," she tells Will. Today, the girl is six years old and apparently she possesses evil powers. Janet strongly believes that the girl is the devil, and the devil must be stopped at all costs.
She talks Will into murdering the child in order to prevent her from gaining powers and ultimately taking control over the town.
So Will spies on the girl and her mother, and he learns that strange accidents continue to happen around the girl. Though she's a cute little girl with blond hair and blue eyes, Will feels he owes it to Janet to take the child's life.
He tricks the girl's mother to let him into their apartment, but just as Will is about to cut the girl's throat, he's knocked out with a frying pan. The mother and daughter escapes.
Will sets after them, only to find himself struggling with his faith in God and the fact that he's sent out to KILL SWEET MELODY.
